The government have announced the new Job Support Scheme which replaces the Furlough scheme from 1st November 2020.
Employees must work for at least one third of their regular normal hours. This is payable by the employer.
The employer and the government will each pay one third of the 'lost hours'
If a staff member usually earning £1,500 per month works for 40% of their normal hours.
The employer pays 40% of £1,500 = £600 + a third of the lost hours which is £180.00
The government also pays a third of the lost hours £180
Hence, the employee receives £960
This scheme helps businesses who face a tough winter due to the impact of Covid-19, to protect jobs.
